"Dont tell 'BAD WORDS' da...!!"

"Damn..!!!! Its so f***ing hot..!!!"#:-Sthe same words escaped my mouth yet again on just another midsummer nightmare of a day in Trichy...

"Dei...!! Dont tell "bad words" da...!!" said my thambi friend...[-X

"Huh..?!? dont tell "bad words" aa..?? WTF is that supposed to mean..??":-/

" See...you are once again using "bad words".."

" Abey bh***di waale...!!X( If you don't tell me what these "bad words" are that u are talking about... then how the f**k am i supposed to stop using them..!??!?!

" No da... you are using all these words like F**K & all too much these days... its not good manners...i think u should control using such "bad words""

" O B***nc**d..!!!:-O So according to u "F**K" is a bad word...?!? Then u will probably ask me to stop using other "bad words" like "m**d*rc**d","b***nc**d","ch****ye", "bh***di waale","a$$hole" etc also then..???"

"Yes da... It is very offending...You are using these "bad words" all the time...sometimes it is ok in private conversations between friends...But you are using it everywhere & for everything":-O:-O

"..and whats wrong with that..??"/:)

"Dei... come on...There is something called "manners" that we are supposed to follow...You are even using so many bad words like "m****rf***er" in ur blog itself & asking others to come and read your posts..Its so disgusting...It offends me a lot..":-S

"Dude...WTF is wrong with u..?? get a grip on yourself.. This is pretty common now... Dont u think u are over-reacting..??":-w

"No da....Please..dont use such language when u are with me.. I cant stand it anymore"

"OMG...I dont believe this..!!!":-O:-O

"Dont believe what da..??"

"You remind me of someone familiar..!!!!"

"Really..?? who da..??"

"You remind me of.....ME...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ":-O:-O;;):D/<:-P

" What the F**K are u saying da..?? How can i remind you of yourself..???":-L
"Heyyyy...u just said F**k man...Thats a "bad word"..!!""

"Abey that just slipped out of my mouth da... But u were kidding about me reminding u of yourself na..??"

" No dude... I wasn't..!!":D

" What...?!?!?!?! OMG.... How can this be..!?!?":-O:-O

"Dude... Just chill out... take a deep breath... & relax"

"Huh..??!?" (With a look that said.."Have u lost your b*lls"..!?!?X( )

" Buddy... Today I am gonna tell u a remarkable story... which is gonna enlighten you about so many complex things about life... u will learn so many things from me... just like I once did from another person"...

Yes indeed people...for any of you who thought that this conversational is/was fictional or borrowed from somewhere else or even inspired...Nopes...It aint none of that...This is 100% fact and/or reality (as have been all my posts thus far)... and so too is the story that I told my "virtuous" friend which I shall now share with u...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This story takes u back in time to July 2004, not long after I had entered my new room on the top floor of Diamond Hostel... where I now slept with (well ya...room-mates do sleep together..dont they..!?!?;);)) Parijat, Prashant Jadia & Prashanth (names retained to facilitate sublime flow of thoughts...& in the case of NITTian readers... to prove the truth of this post) although we just preferred to call the second Prashanth "Peanut" (Don't ask me why)...
Back then... I was called "pure" by my batchmates... No, I don't mean purely vile...But purely pureO:)..(Ya rite... Duhhh...!!!b-() People who now know me as a guy who can't make a sentence without some gaali or the other filling in as a fullstop or comma, would probably not believe it when I say that not only had I not used sentences without any gaali(s)...But I was yet to utter a single gaali in my life...!!!!!!!!!@-)
All that would leave my lips would be an extremely stray "f**k" if I genuinely meant some serious emotional and/or physical damage to the recipient of my gaali... or the now kindergarten "idiot", "stupid" etc etc....
So we now move to that evening... i was lying in bed...reading "Prodigal Daughter"..(a book which, I now realize, I never managed to complete#-o)..while Jadia was in his bed reading the latest Digit magazine (yup,each one of us thought the other was more geeky!:-B)
Parijat strutted into the room with all the air that you could expect a thespian to carry about him...ready to pronounce something important...
"Oye M**d*rc**don..!!!! Chalo lets have dinner at canteen tonight.!"B-)
"Dude...enough is enough..!!!" was my response..
"Exactly...I have also been waiting to say the same..!!" Jadia added...
"WTF are u guys saying..?? I dont understand..." muttered Parijat
"I will tell u what we are saying...we are fed up of having u call us m**d*rc**d every single day & night for absolutely no reason at all...!!!"X(
"We never give u any gaalis..& yet u keep calling us M**d*rc**d every now & then" was Jadia's contribution to the situation.."
After we had obliged him generously by showering all the hostility we could offer our roommate (who was otherwise of course, our good pal)..It was now Parijat's turn to begin Round 2...
"Right...so now lemme ask u guys.. If you had to give gaali(s) to someone, would u go & give it to a stranger..??"
Jadia looked at me 8-| and realized that we were in agreement... "No of course not...!!!!"
"Glad that u realized that...So would u then go to an enemy of yours you are not on talking terms with & give him a gaali..??"
"Nope....that would be highly unlikely" came the expected reply (But where's he leading us to with these questions..??:-w )
"So...Can u tell me that if u had to pick a person...or lets say a handful of people u had to give gaalis to... who would they be..??"
Hmmmm.... Now this was an interesting question... never had given it a thought before... Who would I swear at if I had to..???:-?
"Let me tell you the answer if you haven't realized yet...." declared Parijat as if he knew all that was happening like the palm of his hand.." You would first abuse your closest friend(s)...!!!!!"
"What..!??!:-O But thats preposterous...!!! How could u think of coming up with such a thought..!??!"voiced the two of us...still figting valiantly on the side of "virtuosity"
"Dudes ... Get real... Tell me when have u guys used gaalis so far in ur life..??"
"Hmmm...I suppose when we have had a fight with someone...or someone has hurt us real bad..":|
"And who do u fight with...?? & who has the capability to hurt with what he says or what he does..?? Could it be a stranger or an indifferent enemy..??"
"Hmmmm...."
" Search yourself...Everytime it must have either been a good friend...or someone who was your good friend at sometime in the past"...
& yes...He was so right..!!! OMG...what a realization... The only people we had ever abused were our friends..!!! So what could this possibly mean now...???
" Guys... When It's a fact that we only give gaalis to our good friends... then why wait for times of anger or sadness to give them..?? Why can't we show them that they indeed are our close pals by sharing our gaalis with them all the time..?? It is for this reason fellas...that i call u m**d*rc**d even though both of u have ur own names... But when all of us call each other by gaalis... It unites us..!!!":) were the words that left that proud thespian Parijat's lips in an unforgettable moment...
Whoa..!!! What depth of understanding...!!! What a magnificent student of "Friendship"... Bravo..!!!!!!!!!
Thank u Parijat for showing us that gaalis aren't just the offensive slang that ruffians use on roads (hey,we are cultured gentlemen.!!:P )...We owe u a very big debt for enlightening us..^:)^^:)^^:)^ ... and also a truck load of gaalis... I have been waiting so long to blast ur a$$ u b*****d..!!!
and with that...we m**d*rc**ds walked away to canteen for a wonderful dinner...where we happily swore away to the night... following which, we lived happily after... (atleast till the end of 2nd year... after which we moved into different hostels)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

When I had finished telling this story to my thambi friend... the effect was...well... dramatic... he actually apologized to me for objecting to my gaalis... He said he couldn't believe that he had been so naive all along about using slang... & gave me his word that he would also abuse me as a token of our friendship and that he would carry this enlightening message of mine far & wide...

I was honoured with this overwhelming show of respect & thus proceeded to forward to him this blockbuster of an SMS which is my all-time favourite...

Conversation between a Teacher and his student (In Hindi)

Teacher : Teri shikayat aayi hai ki tu gaali bahut deta hai...

Student : Ghanta B***nc**d..!!!
Maine Kis Ch****ye ko gaali di..??
Pata nahi kis m**d*rc**d ne aapki g***d me ungli ki hai..
Wo b***n ka l**da agar saamne aa jaae.. tho uski m** c**d dunga...

Sir, aapka student g***d marwa lega...
Par kisi ko kabhi gaali nahi dega...!!!!!:-O
=))=))=))=))=))=))=))

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

As my friend and I laughed our a$$ out to this joke that afternoon... My friend re-iterated one more time..." I cannot thank u enough da, If it had not been for u...I donno how much longer I would have gone on without using gaalis...Its so refreshing to be able to vent out your anger & frustration like this"

"Abey a$$h**e... cut the bullshit... I din't tell u this long f***ed up story in this god-damn heat for free... get me a bloody ice cream..!!!"

The last innings of (s)extraaa innings..!!!

Today I shall talk about a household name that cricket made famous and who shall be missed by millions following the ongoing world cup...

  • No.. I am not talking about Bob Woolmer (May God do him the honour of resting in peace)
  • No.. I am not talking about Inzamam-ul-Haq (May God allow him to eat & gain weight in peace)
  • No.. I am not talking about Greg Chappell ( May God give him the courage to rip the BCCI to pieces )
& finally..No.. I am not even gonna talk about the a$$wipes who call themselves the Indian cricket team.. coz each & every one of them is gonna redeem their "honour" on India's tour of Bangladesh.. which the broadcasters & sponsors shall bill as the "BADLAA" series (& hence, not just make up for what they lost for India's exit from the WC..but also have enuf left over to sponsor India's scheduled short presence in the next world cup too..!!)... a series where our "wounded soldiers" shall take on the "Mighty Bangla Tigers"... The likes of Sachin, Dravid & Co. will fight out "menacing bowling attacks in hostile conditions" & then "overcome enormous pressure from home & bounce back from recent debacles" to score "hard-fought & patient" centuries..!!!
May God keep the Indian players I once worshipped happy (with whatever jobs they take up after being sacked of course
)

Nope...none of all this... In fact I find it appalling that not many(if at all any) have even realized that this tragedy is in fact, at hand
When ESPNStar made the successful bid of US$ 1.1 billion for the TV rights for all the major international ODI & twenty-20 tournaments following the '07 World Cup to the '15 World Cup... It simultaneously meant the end of Sony's reign in cricket coverage which had begun with the 2002 Champions Trophy..
But hey...thats great news right..?? After all there is no channel in the world to better the panel of Harsha Bhogle, Ravi Shastri, Alan Wilkins, Geoff Boycott, Wasim Akram & the other experts that always hop-in for the ESPNStar coverages... these were the very guys I miss now when I hear the hollow commentary & analysis in the World Cup..
But although I was delighted when I heard of this news...there was one side of me (& i think I know which side
) which cannot help but feel that an ingenious approach to cricket coverage was gonna be wasted en route to its funeral...
For the record...I am talking about (S)extraaa innings...the show that took off with Mandira Body (Oops... make that Bedi..!!!
) as the host (& ya... I read that there is this guy called Charu Sharma also on the show...anyone managed to notice him..?? )

So what if Mandira happens to be the dumbest cricket show host since...(Hmmmm...I dont seem to be getting any answers here...Is it possible that she is the dumbest of them all.??!
)
So what if during the '06 Champions Trophy.. she says for Barry Richards "He is too sexy for his shirt" who promptly gives her a look which conspicuously suggests "WTF is wrong with this dumb b**ch..!?!?"
So what if she is the most narrow-minded indian supporter ever...?? someone who has the audacity to keep laughing at the Bangladesh team even after they beat the shit out of the Indian batsmen (yes... I have a good memory) much to the ire of the Bangla fans who have every right to proud of what their team has achieved( This post comes just after they have humbled the no.1 ranked team in the world)..
So what if all she has to say after an innings is
  • "He looked great while hitting that four"
  • "I want you to see this sixes package only because I like _____ sooo much" (huh...WTF..!?!?)
  • "Ooooh...I just love the way he caught/fielded that ball" (Wish she could also catch some balls eh..!?!? )
(OMG....Maybe its a good thing after all that ESPNStar got the rights..!!!!)

But then again, on which other show will u get to find a host who by herself is the reason to switch to Sony rather than the match that is being broadcasted..???
Which other channel would allow you to see cricket as a sport which offers more than just the usual bats & balls u get to see...to make u realize that cricket is in fact a conglomerate of several shapes (New shapes...so that is ur latest excuse for watching the show eh..?? )
On which other show will one of the questions asked in a contest as well as a hot debate be based merely on what Mandira is gonna wear to the show today..!?!?(I wonder why..when Tony Grieg was asked the same question...responded nonchalantly by saying that he wouldn't mind the sight of her being topless anyone got answers..?? )
Which other host has landed a role in "Manmadhan" (Those of u who know what "Manmadhan" means... know Mandira deserves this role...) based purely on her exploits on a cricket show..??
Who else can lay claim to introducing a brand new concept in sports coverage (Now u find female hosts in many sports...Even ESPN-Star now has female crew at the stadium to exploit the helplessness of loyal male sports fans..!!!)

& are we to believe that with ESPNStar acquiring the coverage rights of all major international tournaments ...that the era of Mandira Bedi is at an end..???
Yes...I am afraid it is indeed so... Coz I cant imagine any of the ESPN-Star guys welcoming her into their panel which never permits anyone other than a seasoned champion at playing and/or expressing views about the game to come On-Air during coverage ( whether they wouldn't welcome her company Off-Air is quite debatable though)

Thus, my friends, I shall ask you to Mourn in silence thanking Mandira for serving us with her presence on Cricket's grandest stage...
..
..
..
..
..
..
..
..
..
..
Ooops...!!!!
Did I ask you to "...Mourn in silence thanking Mandira for serving us.."..??
Sorry..!!!
I meant.. ".. MOAN as silently as you can, thinking of Mandira's 'services'..!!! "

AMEN u frustu perverts..!!!!

Disclaimer : I have not been offered any favours by Mandira for writing this post...!!!

"Wouldn't you have done the same....??"..

"What a bunch of dumbf**k losers..!!!" I bellowed, when watching the pro-reservation guys continue to fart after the SC's verdict for a stay order on the OBC reservations...

One one side we get to see the AIIMS students celebrate a second holi upon hearing the news (Perfectly understandable...I might have done the same...Even more so if I happened to be writing the medical/ Engg. entrance exam(s) this year..!!!!) & on the other..we still see pro-reservation students on the same campus (yes...people who are unfortunately(?!?!?) from the "backward" categories) talk about how this is gross injustice to the "backward" classes & how this will lead to further monopolization of centers of excellence by "forward" classes...
But enough has been said on this issue already...I shall choose to muse over something else but not entirely unrelated to what has happened..

Following my delightful (WTF..!?!) response to the pro-reservation asswipes... One of my friends then tells me .." It isnt entirely their fault...Wouldn't you have done the same if you had been in their place..???"

"Wouldn't you have done the same..??" Hmmmm...well...I cant see myself making protests over establishing quotas...But I would be pretty dishonest if I said that I wouldn't support (atleast on a sub-conscious level) reservations if I had something to gain...& this wasnt/isnt just something thats at stake..it means the difference of getting/not getting a seat in IIMs/IITs/AIIMS etc etc...(I change my mind...I might have even joined the protests with so much to get & nothing to lose..!! :D)

& this opinion would seem like a natural one (nay...it wud be the ONLY opinion) if u were indeed one of the "backward" classes... But what if I chose to tell all u people about a friend of mine who was above all such petty thoughts..& rose far & above to prove that reservations dint matter to him...???

This friend wasnt an "OBC" but a so-called S_ , a category whose reservation isnt even a subject of contention anymore in the Indian society...a guy so brilliant...that he could ace any institute even in the GE category... The only colleague (if thats what I can call fellow students/friends whom I have been with, in person) who I unambiguously acknowledge to be the only person superior to me in overall capabilities & excellence...The guy with whom I shared honours in the maths Olympiad & in the Reynold's scholarships and many more wherein I just wasnt in his league...& so it was hardly wrong to assume that he would make it real big...

However, around the time that I had to attend my counselling at IITM following JEE...I got news that my friend had not made it through the finals of JEE...but thats not where the story ends..he did not make it in the GE category...however, for the rank he had secured, he could have named the college & course he wanted & got it too..all he needed to do was to invoke the reserved quota that he had every right (yes...I would have used it had I been in his place)...But..as I came to hear eventually..he said that he dint need reservation...& he would prove so...!!!!!!!

At that time..I really dint care whether he had proven himself to the world...But he had more than proved himself to me...That a human being who could have so much faith in his abilities, that he was so ambitious to scale the very best & biggest (as his talents rightly deserved) but could also embrace the true spirit of equality & realize that his future would be built..not on his birthrights...but his limitless potential...

& not surprisingly...the inevitable happened...he ended up getting AIR 10 in JEE'04 and went straight to IITD Comp Sci... fairytale stuff na..?? :-)
Hats Off to you buddy...!!! For showing me that respect is earned not just by "getting yourself a seat" but by proving to the world that determination & ability neither asks nor needs anything else to convert itself into achievement...

I only wish there were many more like you in our country..(even a few would do wonders in fact)...
To explain to our "political leaders" that a reservation system which only increases the magnitude of the reserved quota is not the way out to acheive "equality"...
To tell the f**ked up CM of Tamilnadu...that with all the money & time lost along with a gr8 deal of other intangible losses... many schools & perhaps even a few good colleges could have been set up for the "OBCs" he cares for so much...(Apart from telling him that an 82 year old wearing shades doesn't make him cool...It just makes him look what he is...A Fat-Ass Pimp..!!!!)
True...that much of my animosity comes from the fact that I had to wait for over 2 hours before I could finally get into a bus from Chennai to Trichy...thanks to an artificial emergency created by the bandh to "protest against the injustice done to the backward classes"...It comes from the fact that people, who usually never reserved their seats were appalled that every single bus that parked itself in the stand had already been over-reserved...which meant there was nothing available to travel in...
I might well have had to wait till the next morning..had I not sneaked into the bus...& when asked by the conductor for my reserved tickets..flashed two new notes which told him better than all the tamil I knew...that by letting me a seat...he would gain a week or two's supply of beedis or a bottle of the cheap desi liquor or whatever other luxuries our "honest" bus conductors indulge in..
But the looks on the faces of the few old men who had to stand all through that 8 hour journey was not lost on me...the pain, the frustration & the discomfort that should never have been theirs..
Is this how we demonstrate our love for the "backward classes" of my country..??Are we really fighting for their cause by depriving the economy of crores...atleast some of which could have been put into their service..??
As the political d**kheads play out their gimmicks to appease the electoral pool...I could not but help think about its implications... The gentleman sitting next to me complained endlessly about how this OBC thing is all a big farce....that reservations & entire debates held based on Neanderthal records of the year 1931 held no relevance today... that this country is doomed, damned etc etc...& we had to get out to get what we deserve...
An year ago...nay..even 8 months ago...Whenever someone asked me if I would consider taking up lucrative options overseas...I would stand proud & pronounce that I want to work in my country...the economy is growing...blah-blah... I will not join the "Brain-Drain" etc etc
& although the above isnt entirely untrue...its no more a secret that the best jobs only go overseas... & it is the greed of money, of a superior lifestyle & of "equality" based opportunities that has prompted me to not even regret the fact that I shall be going overseas 2 months later....
& yes...I hope His example shall show my countrymen that there are still proud Indians around who believe that it is the spirit of determination & excellence that makes us truly equal....& not a set of retards who revel in showing people how to celebrate our "backwardness".

P.S. : Those of you who know the guy I am talking about...Plz refrain from mentioning his name..& for those of you who don't ..Plz dont bother with his identity...But hail the man for the magnitude of his belief in equality...
